We are very sad to say that we are looking for a new home for our Inky girl. She is getting older but is still very energetic and needs to be an only dog in a home with no small children.

She is a very sweet and snuggly little dog who would thrive as the baby of the family. If you or anyone you know would like more details please message or call me. Cindy 214-642-8049.

Here's the skinny on Inky. She's about 8 yrs old, excellent health, house broken, about 40lbs, beagle mix. Current on all vacs etc.

Found Dogs

Tammy in the 8500 block of Strathmore has placed a couple of dogs in her back yard pen who followed some children home from school on 1/19 Thursday afternoon. Are these from the same owner whose dogs were loose a couple of years ago?

One a female pit bull with white face and grey smokey body. She has had pups but looks like very recently weaned. UPDATE: 1/21 - the pit bull has been placed with a foster home by "Bullies" Pit Bull Rescue. Luckily, they had a foster available.

The young female Rottweiller puppy is probably 1 yr old, about 40 lbs. medium size. She escaped from her temporary home with our nice neighbor and after searching and putting up signs, no response from anyone.

Let's hope she found her way home or to a new family. Tammy had a friend who had volunteered to give her a new forever home, but she jumped the fence before she could get there. If you see her again, please contact Petwatch at 972-305-5210.

Please remember to keep tags on your pets, especially during celebratory seasons such as New Year's Eve. Often the tooting of horns, illegal fire crackers or gun fire, will scare our furry friends causing them to dash outside the home or fenced enclosures.

Our neighbor, Susan, called the hotline and reported that Oscar is back home. He had made his way across Northwest Highway to spend Christmas, but is back home, safe and sound for 2012.

in the 8500 block of Mediterranean, reports that Oscar, a male/neutered, long hair cat, gray with white markings, has been missing since 12/12. A distinct marking is a folded down ear.

Lost Pet - Reunited

"Jackson" a brown and white, 19-20 lb, male Shih Tsu escaped from his home near Strathmore and Flicker this morning, Thurs, Dec. 8th. He's fresh from a bath and left his collar at home.

Update 12/14 - a kind neighbor saw Jackson running around and he is back home.

It will be a very Merry Christmas at the Reed home.

Found: Black Great Dane and white Great Pyrenees

Clarice found two big dogs last night running loose in the neighborhood. They are a black Great Dane and a white Great Pyrenees. Both are definitely purebreds. The Dane is VERY friendly and is wearing a collar but no tags, the Pyrenees does not have a collar and is the more timid of the two.

THIS BEAUTIFUL BOY WAS PLACED IN A NEW FOREVER HOME. Thanks to all the neighbors that made this a success story.

One of our Highland Meadows pets needs a new home. HMNA Petwatch, HM residents and some special volunteers are partnering to place this deserving animal in a new "forever home."
We need additional funding for several miscellaneous items, including neutering. He is possibly mixed with Border Collie. 86 lbs, 4 years old, Rabies vaccinations current, Heartworm negative and currently on preventative medication, neutering scheduled early October.
He is handsome, smart, playful yet friendly. He can be rambunctious outdoors, but is gentle and calm indoors. He loves attention, affection and interaction with humans. Good natured with children.
He is energetic and requires plenty of exercise. Not known to be aggressive with humans or other dogs. Housebroken and well-behaved indoors.

Our good neighbor, Susan, found this pup on 9/4 on LBJ between the Plano Rd and Kingsley exits. He was literally on the highway about to dart into traffic. He has a collar but no tags and no chip. He is an unaltered male probably less than a year old. He is probably dachshund and some basset hound.

He appears to be about 12-13 years old and has cataracts; not too spry. Stephanie who lives in the 8600 block of Hackney Ln reports that her black doberman has somehow gotten out from the back gate on Sunday, 8/21. He does not have his collar as we have found it here in the back yard & he is not microchipped. His name is Achilles and he is not harmful but he is a runner. He does like other dogs so I hope that possibly he has gone to a home with dog(s) & someone may have spotted him or possibly have him or taken him to the local vet.

Good News! Rita took the pup to the vet center to scan for microchip and he is chipped. She was able to get in touch with the owner and reunited them on Saturday evening, 7/30. THANK YOU, RITA, for being a good neighbor.

Our neighbor Rita found a 2-3 year old male beagle/bassett mix near Flicker and Charing Cross on 7/28, Thursday evening. He is a sweet boy approx. 2-3 years old and has on a collar but no tags.

The two dogs that Cynthia found have been reunited with their families. One dog had a micro-chip and has been missing from his owner for almost a year!

Kathryn on Quail Run also had a visitor early yesterday morning -- a large male rottweiler. The pup was friendly and was wearing a collar and tags, from a vet and the city. The vet's office had closed down, but Kathryn got the owner's info from the city and returned the pup to his home, which was farther east on the southern side of NW Hwy. Thanks to Kathryn for caring for this pup and reuniting him with his family!

Two large male dogs followed Cynthia to her home on Hackney while she was walking this morning. One is a younger, jet-black lab mix and the other is blonde and tan. The lighter colored dog is wearing a collar, but no tags. The dogs are is good condition, friendly, and well trained -- obviously someone's pets.

The Gibsons on Cactus want to alert everyone to their lost kitten. Jewel, a 7 month old female calico, who snuck out two days ago. She was spayed 10 days ago and is still healing from that surgery. Her shaved belly and stitches are evident. She did not have a color and tags yet. Jewel's 3-year-old human owner anticipates her speedy return.

Two dogs found on Lubbock

Jennifer found a female bloodhound and a male medium-sized black mixed-breed dog on Monday around the intersection of Lubbock and Capri. These two dogs had also been reported on N Mediterranean Cir last weekend.

Jennifer is very kindly keeping these dogs in her backyard and garage. The female is in heat and is causing a problem with Jennifer's dog, so we need to get these two pups home ASAP. Both dogs are wearing collars. The black dog has tags but he is not quite as friendly and Jennifer cannot get close enough to read them. They appear to be pretty scratched up and may not be legible.

Kimberly on Pandora Circle reported the howling and sighting of coyotes along the creek. She has contacted a trapper through the City of Dallas who will be in contact with her this weekend. If you have any questions about this program, you can call Kimberly at 214-553-5829.

This is a good reminder to all of us to keep our small pets and especially cats inside from dusk to dawn, when predator activity is most common. Also, please remember to pick up pet food and bird food in your yard between these hours, and secure your garbage. Basically, do whatever is possible not to unintentionally "invite" these wild animals into your yard, where your outside pets may be placed at risk.

Kroger announced on Tuesday that it is voluntarily recalling many of its Kroger, Old Yeller and Pet Pride dry dog and cat food varieties because they could contain aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring chemical by-product that is toxic. Aflatoxin grows from the fungus Aspergillus Flavus found in corn and other crop foods used in pet food production.

This pup needs a new home. Her owner is moving and cannot keep her. She is a Blue heeler mixed with lab and retriever. 2yrs old on valentines day 2011. Female, great with my 1yr old daughter, can sit, stay, speak, shake, lay, and come. She is also spayed and microchipped with the advantage of being housebroken. Been a valuable member of my family, never once showed any signs of aggression. Loves the park, take her twice a week, loves to swim. Her name is Blue due to the blue heeler, blue eye, and our favorite color is blue. She loves to cuddle on the couch or even sleep with us in bed.

Virginia in the 10000 block of McCree has lost Angus, her black American short hair cat. He got out of the house on 10/29, Friday afternoon. He has escaped before but always comes back within a day or 2. He is totally black except for a white "V" on his stomach. He is microchipped but doesn't wear a collar. He also has no front claws. Deceased dog reported

A deceased dog was reported last week, wearing a collar but no tags, and a black lead w/ doggie footprints. The pup was about 25 pounds, a bull terrier type of dog. It was found between the north edge of a creek and an alley entrance on Rolling Rock.

My friend has lost his 3(maybe 4) year old Chocolate Lab. He went missing late yesterday afternoon in Old Lake Highlands off of Peavy and Lake Highlands. He could be around the Hexter Elementary School area or anywhere in that neighborhood. Since he has been gone since yesterday afternoon, he could have traveled far. His name is Buster and he is wearing either a harness or a collar with just a City of Dallas tag on it. He is all brown with no significant markings. If found, please call his owner at 469-471-8985. Kona has now been missing since 8am on 10/12. She was last seen at Northwest Highway & Buckner with her orange collar. We are not sure she had tags on the collar. Thanks to Kathryn on Quail Run and a team of neighbors who assisted, the illusive boxer/pit bull mix who has been roaming our neighborhood for the last couple of months has finally been contained in a neighbor's yard. Kathryn will be working with him to get him socialized and accustomed to being around people. Wandering Dog

The Petwatch Hotline has received multiple calls about the tan boxer/possibly pitbull terrier mix wandering around the neighborhood the past several weeks.

Dixie the Cairn Terrier is lost and found

Herb on Capri had an unexpected visitor yesterday. A light colored terrier ran into Herb's front door as he was going outside. Fortunately, this little girl was wearing a collar and tags, so Herb called the number on the tag and learned that her name was Dixie and that her family lived nearby. We were able to contact her owner, Heather on Bacardi, and the two were very happily reunited last night. Thanks Herb, for being such a great neighbor!

Boxer/pit bull mix still roaming the neighborhood

We've had numerous reports of the stray brown and white male boxer/pit bull mix that's been roaming our neighborhood for about the last month. This dog is very friendly around other dogs, but skittish around people. He likes to follow neighbors and their pets while they are out walking. Several neighbors have left food out for him and others have tried to lure them into their yards. However, he's been a really good escape artist and has managed to get out of these yards.

Good news -- one of our neighbors on Flicker is willing to adopt this pup. However, we need to capture him and get him into a secure area. Roberta on Middleknoll saw the large beige and large black dogs again last Friday. Several neighbors have reported these pets and we believe that they belong to someone in the neighborhood, and get out of their yard fairly frequently.

Karen on Paddock Circle reported seeing a reddish brown male boxer on Wednesday. We believe that this is the same dog who has also been reported previously.

Lab puppy found on Cactus

Martha on Cactus has found a young lab mix, black with white markings on his chest, toes and tail. The puppy does not have a collar or microchip. He's a friendly, playful pup, who appears to be about 2 months old.

Stray pets reported over the holiday weekend

Roberta on Middleknoll reported seeing two large dogs on Friday afternoon. One looked like a solid black lab and the other was a large, dark-beige dog. They were walking towards Bryson. She's seen them both before, but doesn't know if they belong to someone in our neighborhood.

Karen on Flicker reported seeing a young pit bull or pit bull mix on Sunday morning. The dog was brown with a bobbed tail and was wearing a pink collar, but no tags. The dog was skittish, so Karen could not get too close to her.

Neither dog was reported again, so let's hope they are both back safely at home.

Sky, the Siamese kitten, needs a new home

Clarice, one of our neighbors, is fostering a 4 month old male Siamese kitten. His name is Sky and he belonged to a lady who lost her husband a couple of months ago. The family has just moved into a place that will not allow pets.

Hi there, My name is Lori Smith. I recently moved into the neighborhood at 8803 San Fernando Way. Last night about 1AM my doggy Ella got out. Some of our kindly neighbors forwarded me an e-mail about the LFH Home owner's association. I was wondering if you could send this info out so that we can hopefully find Ella.
Ella is an Alaskan Klee Kai, and looks like a tiny husky. She is black and white and very adventurous. She took off from our house at about 1 AM August 29, 2010. I got a call earlier today from a lady who said she had seen her at Whiterock Lake at about 8 AM this morning, this is the last sighting we know of. She is very shy around humans, so she needs to be approached slowly. However, she is not dog shy at all, she loves other puppies and is most likely to approach someone with other dogs. The puppy went missing two days ago and although she's wearing a collar and tag with her info and Denise's phone number, Denise hasn't heard anything. Sammy is a light colored Shih Tzu mix and Sammy is a dark colored (black with white and brown) King Charles spaniel. They are usually wearing their tags with Mrs Hanks info and they normally head to the Rolling Rock area.

Queenie the Jack Russell is missing

Patricia on Quail Run lost her Jack Russell named "Queenie" last Wednesday 8/18/10.
Queenie is small, mostly white with brown and black spotting, about 6-8 years old.
She was not wearing her collar and tags when she was lost. She is also on medication and may be in heat.

Patricia is very anxious to have her pet returned. She is offering a reward and has placed signs around the neighborhood. During her search for Queenie, Patricia spoke with someone who said they saw two young males grab Queenie and run off with her late on Wednesday afternoon.

Kathryn on Quail Run reported seeing a medium-sized pit bull mix in the school yard on Tuesday evening. She couldn't tell if the dog had a collar or not. Several of her neighbors have reported seeing a similar dog on Flicker.

LeeAnn on Shagrock reported seeing a brown male boxer on Eden Roc at Mediterranean while she was walking on Wed morning. The dog was very friendly and followed her home, but ran away when she tried to get him into her back yard. He was not wearing a collar.

This pug was found on Lynbrook in the L Streets. He's a very sweet senior dog but appears to be blind and deaf. The rescuer has three dogs of her own and needs someone to foster him while we search for the owner. He has a collar with no tags and is not microchipped.

Bic, the blue heeler mix, needs a new home

The Whites on Mediterranean are trying to find a new home for their dog, Bic.

Bic is past the puppy stage, but he is energetic and loves to run and play outside. However, he does great inside the house too. He is house-trained, obedient and knows most basic commands (sit, stay, no, come, kennel, shake, etc). He is a calm dog who loves to cuddle. Bic likes to play with kids and other dogs, and he's good with cats too.

Due to salmonella concerns, United Pet Group of Cincinnati has expanded its recent recall of its Pro-Pet Adult Daily Vitamin tablets for dogs to include additional branded and private label pet care products. The expanded recall, issued July 2, includes more Pro-Pet products as well as various Excel-branded and private label pet supplements and cleaning products for cats and dogs.

Laboratory testing has revealed that some lots of these products may be contaminated with salmonella, according to the company. The company said it is recalling additional products out of “an abundance of caution.” The affected products are in tablet and powder form and were sold nationally at various retailers, including Petco and Doctors Foster and Smith, United Pet Group reported.

The contamination recently reported in our creek has been washed away due to the rainfall we've been getting. However, the city has been doing some ongoing testing and the bacteria count in the creeks is still very high. Lost & Found!

Mrs. Hanks' King Charles black & white spaniel, Prince, along with companion Sammy, a small white look like poodle/shitztu, went missing sometime Sunday evening.

Mrs. Hanks' neighbor, Ray, who sent out the alert of the missing pups, wants to nominate Sharon & Ray, as neighbors of the month. They found the pups last night, called the hotline, and we were able to successfully put all together to reunite Mrs. Hanks' with her beloved companions.

Lost Dogs

10:30 this Sat Morning, 2 lost dogs, one a large black female shorthair and the other a med/large brown male shorthair perhaps bull terrier mix dragging a broken chain at Cactus headed down Grenadier. No collars on either. Don't appear aggressive, but scampered off when approached. If these are yours they were headed south on Grenadier Dr.;
at 4:30 pm spotted in the 8500 block of Strathmore Drive after finding an open garage door with dog food inside.
No one has yet been able to contain these two.

Update Wednesday 7/7/10 - unfortunately, no one claimed these 2 and the City has picked them up.
