STRAYS
Thursday, Feb. 8th a black Rottweiler looking dog, with collar and tags was spotted in front yards at corner of McCree and Pelican. The spotter says, “(It) looked like he might have belonged there. seemed like he had white on chest too.. very large adult.”
Wed. night, Feb 7th a caller spotted saying 2 dogs around 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Hackney, and Quail Run around Covey Court – one was a red-colored medium-sized dog and the other was a black dog that looked kind of like a long-haired dachshund, an older dog with white around his nose. The two of them were sticking together and run side-by-side. Neither appeared to be wearing a collar. This same caller thought she saw these same dogs on Saturday morning. “NEUTER SCOOTER FOR A NICKEl”
SPCA clinic locations Tuesday February 27th
In an aggressive effort to curb pet overpopulation, the SPCA of Texas clinics are once again hosting “Neuter Scooter for a Nickel,” an annual campaign in association with Spay Day USA that invites cat owners to get their male cats fixed for just five cents. Cat owners must make an appointment and bring proof of vaccinations or vaccines (rabies and/or FVRCP) will be administered at an additional charge on the day of the appointment. All cats must be in carriers; no feral cats, please. Appointments will be taken beginning February 13. To make an appointment, please call 214.742.SPCA (7722) or you can sign up on their website at http://www.spca.org/ .Cat drop-offs begin at 7:30 a.m. Pick up is between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Why neuter your cat? Spaying and neutering results in the prevention of millions of unwanted births. Neutering also reduces a cat's chances of developing testicular cancer, diminishes roaming tendencies and decreases the urge to mark territory by spraying. If left intact, two unaltered cats can produce more than 80 million cats over a 10-year period, and one male cat can sire an unlimited number of kittens in his lifetime.
