Coyotes in Lake Ridge Estates

COYOTE WARNINGS FROM LAKE RIDGE ESTATES
Friends & Neighbors,

Of high importance, please read the following message from
residents
on Fenchruch, concerning their run-in with coyotes in the neighborhood:

"At 6:15 a.m. this morning (Monday) my spouse and I were walking the
dogs up
Fenchurch just south of Chiswell, when we spotted two coyotes crossing
the
street onto Chiswell. Another walker was on the sidewalk walking south
and
we asked him if he saw coyotes as well. He confirmed it and said he
saw
them right after a small black cat was attacked in the front yard of
8834
Fenchurch.

This cat was killed and the coyotes were hanging out on Chiswell in
plain
sight until we left to go back for the remains. It was light outside
and
they were clearly visible. I called 311, got caught in their
voicemail, so
switched over to 911 to report that coyotes were still present on
Fenchurch
& Chiswell.

I don't think the 911 operator understood the significance of this so
when
we got home I called 311 to make another report. Animal Control has
been
contacted and I will follow up later today with them to see if they can
get
warning flyers out in the neighborhood.

Please let our residents know about these coyotes in the area. If you
own a
cat or small dogs, please keep them inside as coyotes are looking for
food.
It's safer for our pets anyway to be inside, especially this time of
the
year. Fences aren't enough as coyotes can get through some pretty
small
holes and openings. We had one get inside our backyard through our 8
foot
ornamental fence when we lived in Richardson.

While coyotes aren't known to attack humans, the coyotes this morning
weren't afraid of us and were intent on getting back to the cat
remains.

If you know of anyone who is missing a small black cat, please let them
know
of this incident."

Thank you & be safe,
