June/July Wildlife Reports
Coyote and other Wild Animal Reports:
The City has significant signs and yellow "crime" tape in 4
areas over here in Dixon Branch. It is on 2 sides of the creek between
Lochwood and Dixfield. That would be on Lippitt and
Clearbrook. They have placed signs saying that this was a coyote trapping
"program".
A very concerned neighbor called tonight to say that
she saw 7 coyotes in Lochwood park this morning very
near the area that I previously reported. That is near
the treeline at approximately 11200 Fernald, near the
trails that are frequented by children and near the
waterfall and rocks where they play.
Of course the 7 number is hard to believe but we have
had them in 3's and 4's and at least one other time as
many as 7.
Her sighting was at 9AM this morning- 6-17-07. That
was 3 hours earlier than the other sighting. This
woman lives blocks away and was driving by.
She also added that Friday night at 8PM she had seen 2
on Clearbrook. I assume this was near the previously
reported area.
This morning at 11:30, (Sunday, 6-17-07), a woman who
lives at 11125 Fernald was walking her dog and
observed 2 coyotes "leaping and running" on the
greenbelt next to the falls and "on the park grounds".
A woman told her of a "couple of other sightings".

Julie called, but didn't leave her address. She's seen bobcats in her yard on two occasions -- she's reported them to animal control. She's trying to trap them, but hasn't been successful.
Donald also called on 6/22 to report a dead or dying baby coyote in the alley between Mediterranean and Bicardi, on the north end. He had reported this incident to Animal Control as well.
July 5: It’s 10:30 a.m. Mom just told me just watched a female Bobcat with two cubs on the backporch for awhile this morning which means the male is nearby too. Obviously the rains have brought them back up from the creek. .LorettaClub Creek Circle
FYI---Coyote Info:
A coyote has a very long nose, tall pointed ears and
FOREVER a drooping tail. BUT, believe I have read
that the tail goes out if it is on the attack.
Bobcat Info:
"The Bobcat's coat is most often light gray or various
shades of brown in color, with varying degrees of
black spots along the body or relegated to the
otherwise white underparts; it also has distinctive
black bars on its forelegs and stubby black-tipped
tail, from where it derives its name, and prominent,
pointed ears tipped with short tufts of black hair.
Twice as large as a house cat but typically smaller
than the related Canadian Lynx, the adult male Bobcat
averages 36 inches in length, and weighs from 20 to 60
pounds, generally around 30-40% larger than the
female."
