It's the Holiday Season, Will You be Traveling With Your Pet?

We're all busy making our holiday and travel plans, and if those plans include traveling with your pet, here are some good tips:
If you're traveling by air, book early and check the pet policies for your airline -- they're all a little different. It's a good idea to fly during off-hours when the airport is a little less crowded, and if your flight has a layover, schedule one with enough time to step outside the terminal and walk your pet.
If you'll be driving with your pet, be mindful of weather conditions. When the temperature is high, or near/below freezing, never leave your pet unattended in your car. Animals can suffer from heatstroke, hypothermia and dehydration.
If you'll be staying in a hotel, be sure to call ahead and advise them that you're pet will be with you. Some hotels limit the size of pet allowed, and others charge extra fees and/or deposits.
Seven essential items to bring with you, no matter how you're traveling:
Your pet's normal food
A separate carrier for each animal
Familiar toys and bedding
A simple first aid kit for pets
All necessary cleaning supplies
A copy of vaccination records, especially rabies
Recent photos, just in case your pet gets lost. Also, be sure your pet is wearing a collar and a tag with your contact information.
